Built for Reliable Port Performance South Port, New Zealand

South Port NZ Ltd, New Zealand’s southernmost commercial deep-water port, manages a diverse and demanding freight profile that requires reliable, heavy-duty container handling equipment.

NZ South Port Case Study

With the increasing need to maintain operational efficiency, the port required additional high-capacity material handling equipment that could integrate seamlessly into an already active fleet.

Key requirements included:

  • Ability to safely and efficiently lift heavy container loads.
  • High visibility, operator comfort, and strong ergonomics to support long shifts
  • Reliable servicing and local technical support to minimise downtime
  • Consistency with an existing fleet already made up of Hyster equipment

To maintain productivity levels and support increasing demand, South Port needed a trusted partner able to deliver robust equipment backed
by dependable after-sales service.

Adaptalift Group NZ supplied two new Hyster Reach Stackers, each with a 46-tonne lift capacity and advanced operator-focused features designed for heavy-duty port operations.

The new units were selected to complement South Port’s existing fleet, bringing the total number of Hyster machines on site to 24, including forklifts, container handlers and reach stackers.

In addition to the equipment supply, Adaptalift Group NZ continued to deliver strong local service support through its Invercargill-based technicians.

This close support has been a driving factor in the ongoing relationship and fleet performance.

The deployment of the two new Hyster Reach Stackers has enhanced South Port’s ability to manage high-volume container movements, ensuring continued efficiency, safety, and operations across the terminal.

The combination of high lifting capability, operator comfort, and responsive service has reinforced the port’s trust in Adaptalift Group NZ as its long-term equipment partner.

With a total of 24 Hyster units now in operation, South Port continues to rely on Adaptalift Group NZ for quality machinery, servicing excellence, and long-term support for its evolving port operations.
